2017 Spring after-school workshop: Matilda
Learn musical theater through experiencing musical theater!
Join YMTC over this spring 2017 to work on exciting musical theater material in a rigorous, fun and welcoming environment with YMTC directors. Director and Alum Simone Kertesz and Music Director Diana Lee will work with students on preparing selections from the musical Matilda, the award-winning musical by Dennis Kelly and Tim Minchin, based on the book by Roal Dahl.
The intensive will focus on every step of the process of being a musical theater performer, including auditioning; music and dance rehearsals; learning blocking; developing character and relationship; and being a part of an ensemble. Students will meet three days a week after school for seven weeks to work on material and will learn ensemble singing, choreography and movement, and acting for musical theater. A works-in-progress presentation will be held on the final day of the intensive for an invited audience.
No audition necessary. Workshop size limited to 20 students. Acceptance is on a first-come, first-served basis.
