Winter 2025: Heathers

March 14–23, 2025 – 6 performances only!

The Malonga Casquelourd Center for the Arts in Oakland

Music, lyrics, and book by Laurence O’Keefe and Kevin Murphy, based on the 1988 film of the same name

Based on the cult-classic 80s film, Heathers is the darkly delicious tale of Veronica Sawyer, a teenage misfit who lands a spot in Westerberg High’s most popular and ruthless clique: the Heathers. Fed up with the Heathers’ cruelty, Veronica develops a relationship with the mysterious loner Jason Dean, and the couple sets out to rid their school of the vicious trio – but Veronica just may lose her soul in the process. Are they going to prom or to hell? Set to a contemporary pop-musical score, Heathers is a black comedy about the danger and attraction of being 17, in love, and drunk with deadly power.

Summer 2025: Oklahoma!

July 18–27, 2025 – 6 performances only!

El Cerrito High School’s Performing Arts Theater

Music by Richard Rodgers, lyrics and book by Oscar Hammerstein II, based on Lynn Riggs’s Green Grow the Lilacs

In 1906 on the day of the local dance, two love triangles cause merriment and turmoil: farm-girl Laurey and cowboy Curly’s budding romance is threatened by the brooding ranch-hand Jud, and fun-loving Ado Annie must choose between her sweet-but-simple boyfriend and a suave peddler. Set against the backdrop of the Oklahoma territory’s impending statehood and the changing landscape of America, and filled with classic songs and characters, Oklahoma! is grand, romantic, and full of joy.
